In 1929, Walter Davenport
and Sons, a fuel oil company was founded in High Falls by Ken and Maurice Davenport.
in 1946, Garraghan Oil was started by Ray Garraghan in Kingston.
Both companies grew over the years to be successful fuel oil businesses. Then
in 1974 Heritagenergy was created, operated by the two independently owned firms.
In 1992, they merged, also acquiring several other local oil companies including
Reid's Fuel Oil of New Paltz and Rondout Woodstock Oil of Kingston.
Today, Heritagenergy has grown to become one of the largest fuel oil suppliers
in the Hudson Valley. today, the firm is operated by Ray's son Abel Garraghan
and Ken's son William and his grandson Ken. Abel's children, Patrick and Kiley
are also involved in the business.
Heritagenergy's home office is located on Sawkill Road in Kingston with an
office in Wurtsboro. Heritagenergy serves customers in Ulster, Orange and Sullivan
counties with home heating oil, propane, air conditioning and equipment.
